The course
The swim is the in lake just below the staging area. In prior years, we have had two starts (girls and then guys), but in 2009 we are anticipating needing three or four starts (at five minute intervals). Athletes swim about 400 metes in an arc, coming out of the water about 150 meters from where you begin. There is an uphill run (on dirt) of about 150 yards to the staging area, which is in a parking lot. Exit the parking lot on a slight uphill, leave the park, and travel on a frontage road parallel to I-5. Then triathletes enter a local prison (where all of the inmates are locked away) and do a two mile loop before returning to the lake. You exit the staging area from the other end to do a three mile out-and-back run around the south end of the lake on a very flat, fast course.
The cost
Pre-registration: $50/individual and $70/team for each race.
Race day registration: $55/individual and $75/team.
Pre-register for both triathlons and pay $85 (but you only get one t-shirt)
Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m.
