"A glaring omission from this list, in this coaches opinion: Stevie Kennedy Gold
11-3 in The Vault. Undefeated in league. 15th in Masters Meet. School
Record Holder. Foothill League Meet Record Holder. Second best in league
was 9-1. 2 feet 2 inches lower! That equates to lapping second place in the 3200!
So, what does it take to make this list? No one in league was more dominating in
her event than this UCLA bound vaulter. Joey Gulino usually is right on, but not
this time!"

Our Boys 4x100 Relay Team achieved most of their goals this weekend. We came in ranked
22nd with our Masters Meet time of 42.61. In State prelims 9 teams advance to finals, and
we placed 9th with a school record 41.78. Last night we placed 6th and made it to the podium
to collect our State Meet Medals. It rained all day and the track was wet and slippery, with
most of the water in our lane - lane 1, but time was not the focus for this meet.

"The most bizarre occurrence occurred in the boys 4x100-meter relay, where 4 of 9 teams were disqualified for unrelated violations. Making matters worse, Long Beach Poly -- which struggled on the middle exchange -- failed to finish the race, thinking it was out of contention. But with the four DQ's, all Poly needed to do was finish, regardless of time, to advance. Since it didn't, the section essentially forfeited one of its five alloted berths to state. In his 18 years directly with the meet, CIF co-meet manager Hal Harkness said it was the first time he could recall the section not sending all five of its berths in an event. "Totally bizarre," he added. "But that's why you can take nothing for granted." by Rich Gonzalez

Alumni Update: Master's Coach, Zach Schroeder, speeks about Anthony Pizzo's performance at the Men's 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track
& Field National Championships in Marion Indiand yesterday. "Waiting patiently in the middle of the chase pack, sophomore Anthony Pizzo covered
every move as the pack closed the distance between themselves and Chelimo, Kithuka and Kirwa. With 800m to go Pizzo began to kick, passing all but
the top four finishers. Coming across the line in 14:18, Pizzo finished 5th and earned All American Honors. Pizzo is a remarkable performer, he knows
how to race big when it counts. He’s now a two-time NAIA All American. This past fall, Pizzo finished 9th in the nation at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships. He’s had an outstanding year."(May 30, 2011)

close. We felt that the winner of the 4x100 relay would probably
win the meet. Max Archuletta, Kenneth Stone, Dominic Pennucci,

Saturday at Birmingham we had some outstanding marks and are tuning up for our showdown with Saugus
this Thursday. These times were hand times from the coaches. Hopefully, we are told that "official results"
will be posted in the Daily News tomorrow. The only field events I know were told to the coaches by the
athletes or observed by the coaches. Please email me if you see a missing or incorrect mark. Many athlets
were walking arround with multiple medals around their necks. Some of the highlights:
Our boys 4x100 of Max Archuleta, Kenny Stone, Dominic Pennucci, and Darius Rudolph ran a season best 42.4
to win by over 15 yards. This ranks third on our TOP TEN LIST and faster than last years team which ran 42.62.
Nate Wolitarski improved his Shot Put mark winning the event with at 53-2.5 effort. He is now # 4 all time.
Kevin Enge won the High Jump 6-2 and placed second in the Triple Jump at 39-9.75 and Long Jump at 20-3 behind
Kenny Stone's 20-5. Kenny also had the top time in the 100 at 11.14, and 200 22.13. Sam Willis won the 800 in a
PR 1:58.55 (also made the top ten!). Jacob Becerra improved is 1600 PR to 4:29. Timmy Gonzales broke the
10 minute barrier for the first time running 9:53. Sophomore Zach Wims also cracked the 10 minute mark running a PR 9:59.
Our girls also had a fantastic day. Our 4x100 team of Maleya Cabrera, Erica Anunwah, Monica Hogan, and Taylor
Thomas
ran a season best 49.5. Taylor Thomas also won the 400 with a personal best 59.2 which puts her 3rd on
our all time list and the 100 Hurdles at 15.14. . Also making the Top Ten List is sophomore, Madison Hills who ran
a PR 60.6 in the 400, which is now 7th "all time." Madison also had a PR in the 800 running 2:20.9. 10th on the
Top Ten List is Brenda Cohen's 2:20.82! Sarah Cipperley equaled her PR in the 1600 running 5:19. Stevie Kennedy-Gold
won the pole vault at 11-0 and Erica Sardella took second at 9-6. Tiffini Stone won both the Long Jump at 17-2 and
Triple Jump at 35-10.

Parents, Tomorrow is our last HOME meet! We need your help officiating field events, timing, taking pictures, and
cheering on our team. If you would like to help out and don't know what to do, please see coach Broneer on the track
before the start of the meet. He will find a place for you.
Tomorrow we face a talented West Ranch Girls Team and we expect the meet to be VERY close. It probably won't be as
close as last years 68-68 Tie! We expect some meet records to fall: Our sprint relay team ran 49.7 last week vs Valencia
and should challenge the 49.8 record set in 2009. Monique Grijalva and Mari Kneisel will go after Franzeska Zirbell's HJ
record of 4-10. Tiffini Stone will try to improve on her own meet records in the long and triple jump (16-11 and 34-7.5). Our
girls 4x400 team ran a fine 4:08 last Thursday and should challenge the meet record set last year by West Ranch at 4:09.9.
Stevie Kennedy-Gold will try to erase Gillian Lopez's 10-0 PV record. On the boy's side we expect a similar meet as last
years' 104-32 victory. WR has a 10.95 sprinter in Mark Collins who will have his hands full with Darius Rudolph who set
last years meet record of 10.6. Kenny Stone will go after Trevor Habberstad's 50.7 400 record. It is likely, if there is little wind
that both of Anthony Pizzo's records (4:41 1600 and 10:14 3200) will fall to Michael Glasgow, Timmy Gonzales, or Jacob Becerra.
Sam Willis will go after Kenneth Moreno's 2:05 800 mark. Sam is currently ranked #38 in the country for his 4:16.52 1600 time he
ran last Friday at the Mt SAC Invitational. The HJ meet record is 6-0. Kevin Enge, Andre Beets, and Joel Estrada have
already jumped higher so far this season. Nate Wolitarsky will go for Nick Peterson's 50-10.5 mark in the Shot and Ricky Bergeron's
143-8 Discus mark.

Valencia at Canyon Results New Meet Records Photos MORE Photos
Videos (search youtube "track chs val 4-14-11 1" to "track chs val 4-14-11 44")
The Boys Varsity won 93-43 and the Frosh Soph won 92-44. Kevin Enge set a meet record 6-5 in the
High Jump and Nate Wolitarsky tied the meet record at 49-8 in the Shot Put.
The Girls meet came down to the mile relay, and Valencia's Girls beat the Cowboys by a yard to win
the meet 69 1/3 to 66 2/3. (There was a 3 way tie for 3rd in the High Jump.) So, it was about
as close as it can get. The JV Girls was also close: Canyon won 74-61.
The boys are going for our 10 consecutive victory against Valencia and our girls will try to avenge a 55-81 loss a year ago.
Several Meet Records could fall tomorrow. In the Boys Kenny Stone will go after David Ship and Virgil Hill's 49.3 400 mark.
Jacob Becerra will go after Tyler Tocksteins year old 9:53.2 mark in the 3200. Sam Willis will go after Adam Mc Donald's
1:58.0 800 mark or his 4:27.0 1600 or both! Kevin Enge is close to Phil Malinoski's 6-4 High Jump mark and Nate Wolitarsky
will go after O'Brien's 49-8 mark in the shot put and Ricky Bergeron's mark in the Discus of 152-10. The Valencia Girls team
could set quite a few meet records. Valencia's Jasmine Hall has already run 11.7 and 24.8 in the sprints this year. Our meet
records are 12.3 and 25.0 both set by Alysia Johnson in 2002. Alysia also holds the Long Jump meet record of 17-3.25.
Valencia's Faith Anumba just set the Foothill record of 19-1.5 at the Arcadia Invitational and Canyon's Tiffini Stone has gone
18-2, also at Arcadia. Alisha Thompsons 2004 mark of 34-9 in the Triple Jump will most likely fall, as Anumba and Stone have
marks of 38-9 and 35-11.5 already this season. Stevie Kennedy-Gold will go after Jill Reynolds 2004 mark of 11-6 in the pole
vault. Stevie set our school record at 11-2 in the Hart meet.

UP! UP! and AWAY with the old Foothill League Record of 11-1 by Jill Reynolds of Valencia set in 2003.

Stevie Kennedy-Gold sets a new school record 11-2!
(The league record is 11-7 by Jill Reynolds of Valencia in 2004)
These results are "unofficial" as the results of the Pole Vault never made it to the scorers table.
Meet Highlights:
Girls Varsity:
Stevie Kennedy Gold won the Pole Vault with a school (and Foothill League) meet record 11-2 performance.
She also broke the 12 year old meet record of 10-6 set in 1999 by Danielle Wenz.
Freshman, Sarah Cipperly ran down Hart's senior Grace Zamudia with a blazing last lap to win the 1600 in 5:23.7.
She then came back to win the 3200 in 12:35.
Taylor Thomas came from behind to anchor our 4x100 relay to a close victory in a season best 50.1. She also
won the 100 Hurdles in 15.0, 300 Hurdles in 48.5 and anchored a winning 4x400 in 4:11.1
Tiffini Stone won the long jump in 16-9 and 2nd in the 400 (62.7) and on the winning 4x4. Erica Anunwah had a
PR to win the Triple Jump in 31-11.5 and 2nd in the 100 12.8.
Boys Varsity:
With 2 members of our Sprint Relay out (Darius Rudolph - injured hamstring and Kevin Enge - Funeral) our sprint coach
Eric Johnson pulled up freshman, Dominic Pennucci and junior Jordan Canady 5 minutes before the race, they joined
Max Archuleta and Kenny Stone to win in 43.8. Kenny also won the 200 in 22.4 and 400 in 52.0. Max won the 100 in 11.1.
Sam Willis and Jacob Becerra went 1-2 in the 1600 in 4:39 and 4:40. Michael Glasgow won the 3200 in 10:16
Josh Roper won the 110 Hurdles in a PR 15.4 and Triple Jump in 39-6.5. Nate Wolitarski remained unbeaten in the Shot
Put and Discus with throws of 49-9 and 134-0.
I counted 41 Personal Records set today in the FIELD EVENTS. As I was leaving the meet the Hart coach, Larry David,
congratulated our teams on 4 victories. I told him that I believed that our FS and JV teams were losing, but close. He said,
"No, you won all 4. It was the field events that made the difference." So, way to go all you jumpers, throwers, and vaulters!
Next up is the Arcadia Invitational next Friday and Saturday April 8th and 9th. Spring break work-out schedule will be discussed tomorrow.
